Its a Small World Nursery

One of the best things about a Disney Cruise is the ability to have family time and personal time– for both parents and kids!  You’ve probably heard about the wonderful Oceaneers Club available for child over the age of four, but what about the little ones?  Well that is where It’s a Small World Nursery comes in!

Located on Deck 5 of the Disney Dream, the Small World nursery offers child care services for children ages 3 months to 3 years.  The whimsical design was inspired by the classic Disneyland attraction.

Open throughout the day, It’s a Small World Nursery invites parents to enjoy more adult-oriented adventures during the cruise while their children are safely cared for by trained Disney counselors.  Operating hours run til midnight every night and the charge for the services is a nominal per hour fee.

The nursery features a number of dedicated areas for young ones.  There is an acclimation zone to help children check-in and get used to the nursery.  There is a play area for the toddlers to play with age-appropriate toys– often with the counselors joining them in play.  This includes a craft area.

There is also a large nursery/nap area for quiet time with the kids.  This area is very peaceful– I almost wanted to take a nap!

During a recent cruise we utilized the Small World Nursery for our 8-month old son.  I will be honest it was tough to leave my baby boy with anyone who was not family– this was the first time we had ever done it!  However, by the end of the trip I wanted to take the counselors home with me to help with our kids.  They were amazing people!

You also get piece of mind when checking your baby in knowing that the nursery staff can easily contact you via the Wave Phone on board.  When our son got fussy and could not be calmed down for a significant amount of time the staff contacted us directly to let us know.  When we got there we found out that our son had settled down and that one of the counselors had been holding and rocking him the entire time.  That type of personal attention is amazing!

If you are a parent with a young child hesitant about a Disney cruise don’t be!  The kids options are amazing and you may find your kids want to spend time in their area more than with you!  The team at the Small World Nursery is a significant part of that amazing experience.

Some of their services include assisting mums on bed rest, providing child care options and things such as preschool groups.
